exfm:
This morning Amazon announced their latest addition to the toolkit, Cloudsearch. Here at ex.fm, we were lucky enough to be part of the private beta for Cloudsearch, so we’ve been running it in production for the past few months.
In terms of performance, Cloudsearch is much faster and…

I’m not sure how I missed ever hearing this song until it was played at my friend Nigel’s wedding while he was dancing with his new wife. Here’s an incredible remix of Ry Cooder by Nigel:

This and the next one are unfamiliar recordings of familiar pieces. Incredible just intonation buzzing and geometric rhythmic patterns in the Tenney:

Is this actually D’Angelo covering Soundgarden’s Black Hole Sun? If not, who cares, it’s great.

My friend Katie said Wet is from the future… a time when filthy songs are written for the Las Vegas bachelor parties of English princes. Dude is another dirty song from the future. The sounds are so crisp:

Three versions of this rowdy and honest coming of age country pop song. #9 on the U.S. charts in 1964, according to Wikipedia.

This might be my favorite music I found this year. This country version really makes the sentimentality of the song as clear as possible. It was originally recorded by The Winstons on the same single as “Amen, Brother” which is one of the most sampled songs of all time.

A recording of the sounds at the corner of Hollywood and Vine in LA, automatically analysed and arranged for orchestra. Just gorgeous. Please start a Kickstarter campaign to pay an orchestra to record the other 15 movements, from other major intersections in LA.

This is just an excerpt, but it’s worth it! It’s late breaking music with interlocking parts from fourteenth century France. While we’re in France and the past, here are a few of my favorites found this year from 17th century French composer and theorist Jean-Philippe Rameau:
